Classrooms

PENGUINS (18 Months - 2 Years) 

Amanda Potter, Lead Teacher of the Penguins class and the 2011 school age summer program, started at Faith Presbyterian CDC in May 2011.   
  • Amanda earned a Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Sciences, with a concentration in early childhood from The University of Texas at Austin in December 2009.
  • Amanda worked as an Assistant Teacher with three to four year old children for two years at the University of Texas at Austin Child Development Center.
  • Amanda was a nanny for two families; worked one year with a family with 16 month old twins, a three year old child, and a six year old child and worked 1 ½ years with a family with two boys (a 12 month old and a three year old).
  • Amanda worked as the ACE/SuccessX6 AmeriCorps intern in the Rainbow Bears class to provide educational support to the children and classroom instructional support in order to promote early literacy.
  • Amanda enjoys being outdoors, traveling, shopping, watching sports and spending time with family and friends.

UNICORNS (3-4 Years)

Doris Frederick, Lead Teacher of the Unicorns class, started at Faith Presbyterian CDC in March 1999.

  • Doris worked for several years as the Assistant Teacher in the Rainbow Bears Class. 
  • Doris received her Child Development Associate Credential in Spring 2008. 
  • Doris continues to earn credits toward her degree in Child Development at Austin Community College.
  • Doris enjoys spending time with her daughter. 

RAINBOW BEARS (4 Years)

Lisa Mapps, Lead Teacher of the Rainbow Bears class, started at Faith Presbyterian CDC in March 1991.
  • Lisa earned her Bachelor of Science in Family and Child Development in Home Economics in August 1989 from Texas State University in San Marcos. Lisa also has an Associates of Applied Arts Degree in Commercial Art from Kilgore College.
  • Lisa is part of the Texas Early Education Model (TEEM).  She is a Texas certified school ready pre-k teacher. This is a prestigious recognition for Faith Presbyterian CDC.
  • Lisa came from a large family of 15 and is the youngest. She started babysitting at the age of nine. She has 42 nieces/nephews and 64 great nieces/nephews, and four great-great nieces/nephews.
  • Lisa's future goals are to obtain a Master's in Behavioral Studies in children or family studies. She also would like to get involved with volunteer services that shelter children. Her hobbies include: going to the movies, watching sports, drawing, collecting cookbooks, old dishes, bargain shopping, and surfing the internet for the latest information on young children.
